KAMLOOPS — Despite a mild January, the Kamloops building sector got off to a slower start.

According to new numbers from the City of Kamloops, builders took out $9.4 million in permits last month.

That’s down significantly from the $14.5 million in activity Kamloops saw in January of 2018.

Both residential and commercial construction sectors were slower.

The local construction sector set a record in 2018 with $285 million in permits issued.
