KAMLOOPS — A man charged with murder in connection to a fatal shooting in Cache Creek last month has been granted bail.

Corey Richard Harkness, 31, appeared in Kamloops Supreme Court today (Feb. 4) according to the court registry. He was released on $100,000 bail with a $10,000 deposit and two sureties.

A surety is someone who appears in court and promises the judge or justice overseeing the case that they will supervise an accused person on bail.

Harkness is charged with second-degree murder in connection to the Jan. 14 shooting death of Brock Ledoux.

That day police responded to a home in the 1000-block of Collins Road in Cache Creek for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived they found a dead man.

Court documents show Harkness has had several court appearances across the province, for charges including using stolen credit cards, forging credit cards and possessing stolen property.

Harkness will appear in court on March 18 to consult with legal counsel.

Evidence disclosed in bail hearings are bound by a court-ordered publication ban.
