SD73 board gives Westwold Elementary another chance

WESTWOLD, B.C. — The Kamloops-Thompson School District is throwing Westwold Elementary School a lifeline.

The school closed last September when no students showed up on the first day of classes.

This led the Board of Education to launch a consultation process on the future of the school, seeking feedback from parents and community members.

At last night’s meeting, the Board of Education voted unanimously to keep the school open — as long as at least six students enroll next September.

If fewer than six students enroll for the start of classes in September, the school will be closed and those students will be enrolled in R.L. Clemitson Elementary in Barnhartvale.
