Gabriela Stafford adds another Canadian record in winning Boston GP
BOSTON — Gabriela Stafford raced to her second Canadian record of the season Saturday, winning the mile at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in record pace.
The 23-year-old from Toronto crossed in four minutes 24.80 seconds for the victory. Sheila Reid held the previous national record of 4:27.02.
American Elinor Purrier was second in 4:24.88, while Dawit Seyaum of Ethiopia was third in 4:26.84.
Stafford’s record run comes after she shattered the Canadian mark in the 5,000 metres to open her season earlier this month in Glasgow.
