MELBOURNE, Australia — Canada’s Gabriela Dabrowski and Croatia’s Mate Pavic will not defend their Australian Open mixed doubles title.
The top seeds lost 6-1, 4-6, 11-9 to Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez of Spain and Neal Skupski of the United Kingdom in a quarterfinal on Wednesday.
Pavic hit a smash wide on match point to end it. He called for a review, which showed it was just out.
Dabrowski, an Ottawa native, was looking for her third career Grand Slam mixed doubles title and her second with Pavic.
