KAMLOOPS — The Independent Investigations Office of BC is asking for any witnesses to an officer-involved crash in Kamloops last month.

In a news release, the IIO says the crash occurred at roughly 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 8, at Westsyde Road and Grasslands Boulevard, between an unmarked cruiser and a civilian vehicle.

Chief Civilian Director for the IIO, Ron MacDonald, says there was serious injury sustained during the incident.

“This incident is in relation to RCMP conducting a traffic stop of a vehicle, and there was a collision that occurred between an unmarked police vehicle and that civilian vehicle,” MacDonald says. “It’s serious harm, serious injury that occurred, because of the nature of the investigation I don’t want to disclose exactly what that injury is at this moment. But it was not life threatening.”
