Danny Green leads Toronto past Memphis for ninth straight home victory
TORONTO — It’s been a while since Danny Green heard fans chanting his name.
Green had eight three-pointers and 24 points — both season highs — to lead Toronto to a 119-90 win over Memphis on Saturday night. The Raptors cemented their season-high ninth straight victory by outscoring the Grizzlies 45-14 in the third quarter, anchored by Green’s club-record seven three-pointers on nine attempts in the frame.
That prompted the Scotiabank Arena sellout of 19,800 to chant Green’s name, then give him a rousing ovation when he left the game with 2:17 left in the quarter and the home team leading 90-62.
“That (crowd chants) made it really fun,” Green said. “I don’t think I’ve heard that since I was a little kid from your parents on the sideline.
