Mariah Carey recently settled a lawsuit her former manager filed against her. Now, she’s filed a lawsuit against a former personal assistant who she’s accusing of blackmail.”This new year welcomes Mariah’s continued efforts to clean the trash from her life,” a rep for Carey said in a statement. The lawsuit alleges that Lianna Shakhnazarian “turned out to be a grifter, a Peeping Tom(asina) and an extortionist,” alleging that Shakhnazarian secretly filmed Carey without her knowledge.”Because her threats and bad acts are too great to be ignored, Mariah has been compelled to file a lawsuit against her,” the statement continues. The lawsuit claims the assistant Shakhnazarian (aka Lianna Azarian), took advantage of Mariah by using the singer’s credit card to purchase stuff for herself, and secured huge discounts by telling retailers that items were for Mariah. In addition, the lawsuit claims Azarian secretly filmed Mariah’s “personal activities,” videos of which the suit claims would be “embarrassing” and “extremely damaging” if they were released. According to the suit, when Mariah fired Azarian in 2017, she demanded eight million bucks and said she’d release the videos if she didn’t get it.Mariah’s now suing for unspecified damages. “Given that the evidence against this former assistant is vast and deplorable, we anticipate a victorious resolution,” the statement notes.Weeks before the latest filing, Carey settled a sexual harassment lawsuit with her former manager Stella Bulochnikov. The two “reached a mutually agreed to resolution of this matter,” though the terms were not disclosed.
