Montreal Impact sign Argentine striker Maxi Urruti to new three-year deal
MONTREAL — The Montreal Impact have signed Argentine striker Maximiliano Urruti to a new three-year contract, with an option year for 2022.
The Impact acquired the 27-year-old Urruti from FC Dallas in December in exchange for US$75,000 in targeted allocation money and a first-round pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft.
Montreal said it used targeted allocation money to sign Urruti, who made $781,000 last season. TAM can be used to sign new or re-sign existing players whose salary and acquisition costs are more than the maximum salary budget charge ($504,375) but less than $1.5 million.
Urruti has 44 career goals and 25 assists in 162 regular-season games over 5 1/2 MLS seasons. He led or tied for the lead in FC Dallas scoring each of his last three seasons.
