Sources identify Cache Creek shooting victim as Brock Ledoux

CACHE CREEK, B.C. — Reports from several sources are identifying the victim of Monday’s shooting in Cache Creek as Brock Kenneth Ledoux.

CFJC Today has learned from multiple sources that Ledoux was recently released from prison, and was shot and killed at a home on Collins Road in Cache Creek at roughly 7:00 p.m. on Monday.

Friends and others who knew Ledoux have identified him as the victim, and have also speculated on who the shooter was.

Southeast District RCMP spokesman Cpl. Dan Moskaluk released a brief statement via email Wednesday morning, revealing that Major Crime Unit investigators are still investigating.

The statement reiterated “that this incident does not pose any safety risks to the community.”

Moskaluk did not confirm whether an arrest has been made or if the victim and suspect knew each other.

CFJC Today is not identifying the suspect until charges are laid.

Ledoux does have a criminal history in the BC Interior, including a conviction of aggravated assault against Jason Gourlay in 2017 when both were incarcerated.

Gourlay is the man who was convicted in relation to the hit and run in Aberdeen in 2016 that left 16-year-old Jennifer Gatey dead.

According to a GoFundMe campaign launched to fund a memorial service for Ledoux, he leaves behind two daughters and the money raised will go toward paying for Ledoux’s service.

“Brock had his ups and downs as does anyone,” the GoFundMe states. “But one thing everyone that knew him could agree upon, was his loyalty and heart. He would walk to the ends of the earth for any of his friends and not ask for anything in return. He was like a big brother to everyone he cared about.  Brock had a big heart and was righteous in his own way. That was Brock. Who we all grew to love.”
