Britney Celebrates Milestone!

It’s the 20th anniversary of Britney Spears’ debut album …Baby One More Time and the pop superstar is celebrating. The 37-year-old singer took to Instagram to thank her fans for their support with a sweet note.

“Can you believe that this album was released 20 years ago today??!! I can’t. It’s definitely been the journey of a lifetime, full of ups and downs, but I’m grateful for every single moment of it all,” Britney wrote. “Getting to know you all over the years has been such an incredible experience, and has made this all worth it. Thank you for your support from 20 years ago, all the way to today. I am blessed .”

The album came out on January 12, 1999, and to celebrate the milestone, Jive Records has some ’90s nostalgia planned. They’ve launched a microsite called Britney OS ’99, which is made to look like a Britney fan’s desktop in 1999.

You’re able to interact with a virtual version of Britney – a “Britney Bot” – through a retro messaging app, and when you click elements of the site you’ll uncover free content and a chance to win prizes.

Twitter is also getting in on the celebration. It’s launched custom Britney emojis that appear when you use the hashtags #BabyOneMoreTime, #BabyOneMoreTime20, #20YearsofBritney, #BritneySpears and #YouDriveMeCrazy. The emojis will be available for the next month.
