IMDb LAUNCHES FREE STREAMING VIDEO CHANNEL: Amazon‘s movie and TV database IMDb is launching a free streaming video channel dubbed IMDb Freedive, offering TV shoes like Heroes and Fringe, and movies like Memento. The ad-supported channel will allow users to watch films and TV shows on the website via their computer or Amazon Fire TV device. IMDb reaches more than 250 million unique monthly visitors.

UNIVERSAL PRESIDENT ADDED TO FAST AND THE FURIOUS SPINOFF SUIT: Universal Pictures president James Horowitz will be forced to defend the claim that he brought Neal Moritzinto work on a Fast and Furious spin-off with false financial projections, according to The Hollywood Reporter. A federal judge in California granted Mortiz the right to amend his complaint; he sued Universal in October overthe upcoming Hobbs and Shaw spinoff starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham. He claims the studio broke its promise to allow him to participate in the project.

NETFLIX WON’T FILM IN N.C.: Netflix‘s upcoming North Carolina-set OBX will shoot in South Carolina because of the former state’s new anti-LGBTQ law, the streamer said. Known as the “bathroom bill,” the legislation requires transgender people to use public restrooms that correspond to the sex on their birth certificates. While portions of the bill were overturned in 2017, portions remain that critics find objectionable.
