City asking Kamloops residents for input on sustainable transportation
KAMLOOPS — More transportation choices for locals is a top priority for the City of Kamloops’s Transportation Master Plan, and the city is asking for the public’s input on what they want to see.
In a news release, the city says it’s adding infrastructure to make walking, cycling, and taking transit more convenient for residents. Officials are also trying to identify strategies to encourage residents to consider alternative transportation choices.
“The Downtown Transportation Choices Strategy will include ambitious, but realistic, programming, education, and promote actions to assist residents with adapting to a lifestyle of more transportation choices and relying less on the private automobile for their travel to and within the downtown,” the city says.
All residents in the city commute on a regular basis, and a survey focusing on transportation values, priorities, hopes and fears for the city is open to public input until Jan. 27.
