After Carol Burnett accepted the Golden Globe lifetime achievement award named in her honor Sunday night, Christina Aguilera was compelled to write her own tribute to the TV legend on social media.

“Ok so I’m a huuuuuuge carol burnett fan & her speech & tribute tonight brought me to tears,” Christina wrote on Instagram.

She added, “you can’t compare to the gift of laughter and joy it eternally brings….and especially her rare effortless greatness that shines so brightly.”

Christina called Burnett’s acceptance speech “moving” and “genuine” and recalled her fond memories watching The Carol Burnett Show as a child with her late grandmother.

“I continue to watch with my mom & sister…and now daughter/ son….thank you carol and all who made the magic possible…for mine and many generations to come,” she concluded.

The 85-year-old Burnett received the first-ever Carol Burnett Award for Television Achievement at the ceremony — the equivalent of its film counterpart, the Cecil B. DeMille Award.
