Salvation Army Kettle Campaign nearing its goal for Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — There are three days left in the Salvation Army’s Kettle Campaign and the local chapter is $40,000 away from reaching its goal.

As of Friday (Dec. 21), the Kettle Campaign has reached $160,000 in Kamloops. That’s $10,000 less than the total reached during last year’s campaign.

With the kettles scheduled to be out around town until Monday, the Salvation Army is hopeful it will reach the $200,000 goal.

“Well, we’re out until Christmas Eve, until around 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve,” said Major Paul Trickett of the Kamloops Salvation Army. “So, there’s three full more days of giving to give. When you’re out doing your Christmas shopping just be generous. That’s what we’re asking.”

With the Christmas rush upon them, the Salvation Army is struggling to find enough volunteers to finish off the campaign strong.

“Volunteerism is always the big thing,” Trickett said. “And, we are raising money because our volunteers have been coming out in droves this year. But, we do need to push for these last three days for volunteers.”
