KAMLOOPS — Heavy winds have started blowing across Kamloops this afternoon, and a special weather statement is in effect for the area.
Environment Canada says in the statement that southerly winds of 50 kilometres per hour gusting to 80 kilometres per hour are expected this afternoon for the South Thompson and Nicola Valley.
Westerly winds gusting to 70 kilometres per hour are expected over much of the central and southwestern BC Interior.
The winds will ease overnight when the low pressure system moves to Alberta.
