Kamloops council to discuss applying for wildfire prevention grant

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops city council will be meeting today and discussions regarding applying for a wildfire protection grant will be held.

On the agenda is a report seeking council’s approval to apply for a $265,000 grant under the Community Resiliency Investment Program, along with seeking council’s support of wildfire protection measures.

City staff is recommending applying for funding through the program to treat significant areas in the city, to reduce the threat of interface fires.

This would aim to further support preventative wildfire measures.
