Pre-trial hearings begin for accused in 2017 Dallas homicide
KAMLOOPS — Jury members will be convening in Kamloops Supreme Court later this week after a pre-trial hearing wraps up in the case of Stephen Fraser, who’s charged with murder in the death of Cody Foster.
Fraser was 56 years old when he was charged with murder in connection to 26-year-old Foster’s homicide death in a Dallas RV park in February 2017.
A voir dire hearing began in Kamloops Supreme Court today (Nov. 26) in front of Supreme Court Justice Len Marchand. A voir dire is a trial within a trial, held to determine which evidence can be admissible during the trial itself.
Crown and defence lawyers asked for a ban on publication for the hearing to be put into place, in order to prevent any potential tainting of jurors on the case. All evidence shown and discussed during the voir dire won’t be allowed to be publicized until the jury retires for deliberations.
