To celebrate the release of her new album, Caution, Mariah Carey stopped by The Tonight Show on Friday.

The singer was joined by Ty Dolla $ign for a performance of “The Distance.” She also sat for an interview with host Jimmy Fallon, where she revealed she doesn’t think it’s not quite time to bust out her Christmas classic “All I Want for Christmas is You” just yet.

“I have this rule where I try to get through Thanksgiving” before listening to Christmas music, Carey explained. “I don’t like when people rush it because once I start, I don’t stop.”

She also addressed the Glitter soundtrack’s recent rise to No. 1 thanks to the #JusticeforGlitter movement by fans on Twitter, acknowledging that when it initially bombed in 2001 “it almost ruined my life.”

“It was a tough time,” she said. “It was a whole thing….Whoever thought it was gonna get to No. 1, and now it’s like all these years later, but it is a good album, and the fans made it happen.”

Both the Glitter movie and soundtrack were torn apart by critics. Upon the premiere of the movie, it had an eight percent Fresh Rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
