KAMLOOPS — Another vehicle is undergoing forensic examination in connection to a fatal hit and run last month.

Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says police seized a vehicle yesterday in connection to the investigation of a collision that killed a 48-year-old man on Seymour Street on Oct. 20.

However, it’s not clear if this vehicle is the one police are looking for. Shelkie says officers are continuing the investigation to identify the vehicle that is responsible.

Police had previously released two descriptions of vehicles in the area at the time of the hit and run, but both have since been ruled out as the suspect vehicle.

CFJC Today witnessed a vehicle being inspected by Kamloops RCMP in the 600 block of Columbia Street throughout the morning yesterday (Nov. 19). Shelkie would not confirm a vehicle description or location involving the seizure.

Frank McDermott, 48, was killed in the early morning hours of Oct. 20 on Seymour Street. McDermott had previously been released from police custody hours before the incident, but the Independent Investigations Office of B.C. cleared RCMP of any wrongdoing in connection to the case.

The vehicle that struck McDermott didn’t stop at the scene, and he laid in the road until two passers by pulled over to help.
