RICHMOND — A Richmond RCMP officer is expected to recover after suffering serious injuries during a vehicle stop.

In a release today, police say a Richmond RCMP officer stopped a suspicious vehicle shortly after 9:30 a.m. near the No. 3 Rd and Steveston Hwy.

As the officer approached the vehicle on foot, the vehicle fled and dragged the officer, causing significant injuries. The officer has been transported to hospital but is expected to recover.

Richmond RCMP and surrounding law enforcement agencies say they are now searching for a dark coloured, late model Mercedes Benz 4-door. The vehicle is believed to have tinted windows and a black interior, and there may also be abrasion damage to the driver’s side and possibly a crack in the windshield.
