Barnhartvale school on hold and secure after attempted robbery at nearby store

KAMLOOPS — RL Clemitson Elementary was placed on a hold and secure after an attempted robbery at a nearby Barnhartvale store.

Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says police responded to a report of a robbery at 11:30 a.m. today (Nov. 15). An employee reported that a man had attempted to rob the store by threatening them with pepper spray.

The man left the store without any money or merchandise, and fled on foot. 

Police are currently in the area looking for the suspect, who’s described as an Indigenous man, roughly 35 years old, wearing a black and grey plaid scarf over his face, a black North Face jacket, a black baseball cap, jeans and black shoes with blue laces.
