VANCOUVER — The video-recorded confession of a man accused of killing 12-year-old Monica Jack near Merritt 40 years ago was released to the news media Wednesday.

According to the Vancouver Sun, the three-minute video was released by the B.C. Supreme Court after it was initially played for the jury in the trial of Garry Handlen two weeks ago.

Handlen is accused of killing Jack and leaving her body next to a road.

The confession comes when Handlen was speaking to an undercover RCMP officer in 2014, according to the Sun.
