Ariana Grande stumbles and recovers on Ellen
Ariana Grande performed her new single “Thank U, Next” on Ellen Wednesday morning, amplifying the song’s theme by appearing with two dancers on a set made up to look like a wedding reception.
Midway through the song, she climbed on top of a chair and stumbled as she stepped down from it, but she literally laughed it off, breaking up the verse with an “Oh my god” and laughing during a couple of the following lines.
Grande and her backup dancers, Tayla Parx and Victoria Monet, channeled the 1996 movie First Wives Club. The trio wore all-white ensembles on the stage, which was decorated to look like a wedding reception. Grande had shared a photo with Parx and Monet on Instagram prior to the performance.
“first wives club 2018 …… @thellenshow tomorrow,” she captioned the post. “i love you @victoriamoney @taylaparx … thank u, next.”
Grande released “Thank U, Next” last week. The song’s lyrics reference several of the singer’s ex-partners, including ex-boyfriend Ricky Alvarez, ex-fianc Pete Davidson and late ex-boyfriend Mac Miller.
Ariana has also released the stunning visual for her song “Breathin.” The 25-year-old surprised fans with the music vid, which was directed by Hannah Lux Davis. “thank u for this beautiful visual @hannahluxdavis i love u always,” Ariana wrote on her Twitter.
In the video, Ariana can be seen walking through a busy train station as the world passes her by at high speed. It flashes to clips of Ariana with her head in the clouds and peacefully swinging through the air.
