VERNON — Over 37-thousand watercraft entering BC this year have been checked for invasive mussels.
Nicole Caithness from the BC Conservation Officer Service, says most of the checks took place at the inspection stations at crossings into BC.
“Inspectors have intercepted and conducted inspections on over 1,600 vessels, and detected 22 mussel-fouled watercraft,” Caithness told a media conference.
The boats with mussels came from places like Ontario, Manitoba and Arizona.
