Kevin Koe still undefeated at Masters with 8-2 rout of Bruce Mouat

Winnipeg’s Reid Carruthers plays Halifax’s Jamie Murphy in the morning draw and the winner will take on Regina’s Matt Dunstone in the noon draw. The victor of that game will finally meet Koe.

Elsewhere, Brad Gushue of St. John’s N.L., got back on track to qualify for the playoffs at 3-1. After losing to American John Shuster in the afternoon Gushue rebounded to beat Jason Gunnlaugson (0-4) of Gimli, Man., 8-3.

Gushue faces Sweden’s Niklas Edin (3-1) in the quarterfinals. Mouat will play Shuster and Scotland’s Ross Paterson (3-1) takes on Toronto’s John Epping (3-1).

Glenn Howard (1-3) of Penetanguishene, Ont., ended on a high note defeating Norway’s Steffen Walstad 7-2. Walstad dropped to 0-4.

In women’s tiebreakers, Tracy Fleury of East St. Paul, Man., crushed Edmonton’s Laura Walker 9-2 and Winnipeg’s Darcy Robertson downed Japan’s Satsuki Fujisawa 6-3 to advance.

The second batch of women’s tiebreakers on Saturday morning will see Edmonton’s Chelsea Carey taken on Nina Roth of the United States, and Sweden’s Anna Hasselborg plays Kerri Einarson of Gimli, Man.

The semifinals and finals are set for Sunday.
