Kamloops man wins million-dollar Maxmillion prize
KAMLOOPS — A local man is $1 million richer after cashing in a Maxmillion prize — from more than three months ago.
“I was at Northills Centre and was using the self-checker and was scanning 20 tickets and it was like Free Play, $1, $20, and then $1,000,000?!,” recalls Darcy Hickey. “I was in absolute shock. I didn’t think it was real.”
Hickey often travels for work, and says he usually buys a lottery ticket when he stops for gas, according to a media release from BCLC.
“I have dreamed of quitting my job, renovating my house and traveling,” he says, adding he will also have more time to enjoy hobbies including fishing and coin collecting.
