Stay At Home Gala aims to support Kamloops Brain Injury Association

KAMLOOPS — Your usual Thursday night, “let’s order take-out” routine could be for a good cause next week.

The latest Kamloops Brain Injury Association (KBIA) fundraiser is encouraging you to put your feet up and order in.

Executive Director David Johnson says the association will be hosting their Stay At Home Gala on October 25, and the event is exactly as it the name implies.

“Well, we realized that a lot of people love it when someone else does all the cooking, and a lot of people like to stay home in their pajamas. So we thought, well how can we take advantage of this, and bring the two together?” Johnson says, “We thought, what if we get one of the top chefs in Kamloops, Chef Romeo, to make a really nice meal, and then we’ll deliver it right to the door to people’s houses.”

And that’s not all, Johnson adds, those who order meals won’t go thirsty.

“Red Collar said, well if you’re going to have food then you need some drinks, so they’ve been able to help us out as well.”

Proceeds raised will go towards the day-to-day operations of the KBIA.

“We have an office, we’ve got to pay the rent, and we’ve got to keep the heat on in the winter. And those things aren’t really glorious, but it’s really important that we have that stuff,” Johnson says, “So this meal is helping us make sure that there’s a place that survivors can meet, and that we have somewhere they can come together, be warm, and that we have a cup of coffee for them.”

Ticket holders can choose which delivery time they’d prefer, which Johnson says range between 4:00 to 5:00 p.m, 5:00 to 6:00 p.m, 6:00 to 7:00 p.m, or 7:00 to 8:00 p.m Thursday evening.

“Kamloops is so supportive of non-profits and charities, and we’re getting some great support from the volunteers.”

Johnson adds, tickets are available until Monday, and those can be bought on their Eventbrite page.
