Vernon mayor denounces lack of common rules on pot

VERNON, B.C. — As people get used to cannabis being legal in Canada, Vernon’s mayor is calling on the province to set for some common rules for where it can — or can’t — be smoked.
Akbal Mund says as it stands now, each municipality sets its own rules, which can be confusing.
“I’m thinking of a person who may be using it, and (they) go from municipality to municipality. They’ve got to know what the rules are (in each community). That’s ridiculous,” says Mund.
Mund says the first step the province should take is to install basic off-limit areas such as near schools, playgrounds, parks and anywhere where children frequent.
