Luminocity lights up Downtown Kamloops until Saturday

KAMLOOPS — Unique outdoor art installations are lighting up downtown Kamloops and Riverside Park.

Luminocity has returned to the city for the third time.

It’s a free, walkable art exhibition that projects films from local artists and artists from across the country, created specifically for Luminocity.

The event starts after the sun goes down each night, around 6 p.m.

This year’s Luminocity event began last Friday and people have just a few more days to take it in, with the final evening of the exhibition on Saturday.

“It’s pretty neat to see people exploring their city in a different way,” said Kamloops Art Gallery Curator, Charo Neville. “So, people are wandering throughout downtown and I’ve been at the park each night because we have events inside the band shell as well, so that brings a lot of people down too.

“This evening we have something called Dark Duel, which is kind of a spoof on the art battle. People come in costume, there’s a DJ and they duke it out over glow sticks and modeling clay, and it’s a riot.”
