Hollywood Music in Media Awards

Songs by top artists that appeared in movies over the past year have been nominated for The Hollywood Music in Media Awards, which honor “musical excellence in visual media.”

In the Original Song – Feature Film category, Lady Gaga’s hit duet with Bradley Cooper, “Shallow” from A Star Is Born, is nominated. So is “For You (Fifty Shades Freed),” the duet performed by Liam Payne and Rita Ora for the movie of the same name. “Revelation,” performed by Troye Sivan for the movie Boy Erased, is another nominee in that category.

In the Original Song – Documentary category, “I’ll Fight,” performed by Jennifer Hudson for RBG, a documentary about Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, is nominated.

In the Original Song – Animated Film category, “Finally Free,” written and performed by Niall Horan for the movie Smallfoot, is nominated.

In the Original Song – Sci Fi, Fantasy or Horror Film category, “All the Stars,” performed by Kendrick Lamar and SZA for Black Panther, is nominated.

In the category of Soundtrack Album, A Star Is Born is nominated, as are the soundtracks for Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, Fifty Shades Darker, Deadpool 2and Black Panther.

The ceremony will feature presentations, performances, and a special achievement award. Past honorees include Diane Warren, Smokey Robinson, and Glen Campbell.

HMMA nominations are selected by an advisory board and selection committee which includes journalists, music executives, music-media industry professionals comprised of select members of the Society of Composers and Lyricists, The Television Academy, the AMPAS Music Branch, NARAS, and performing rights organizations.

The 2018 Hollywood Music in Media Awards will be held November 14th, with a portion of the proceeds going to music education.
