Kamloops woman inspired to donate hair to sick children
KAMLOOPS — Upon hearing that 150 wigs had been stolen from a Vancouver shop, including some intended for children with cancer, a Kamloops woman decided to donate some of her own hair.
Courtney Puchelak walked into Changes Hair Salon Tuesday afternoon, prepared to cut off around 12 inches of her hair.
She says she has been growing her hair out for about six years, but when she heard about the theft from Eva and Company Wigs she wanted to help restock their supply.
“I’m happy to change my appearance if it helps somebody else,” Puchelak said. “I’m obviously a little bit nervous to have so much taken off but I’m more than happy to do it.”
