SPENCES BRIDGE and 108 MILE RANCH, B.C. — Provincial and local authorities are alerting the public to a pair of controlled burn projects planned for the coming weeks, one in the 108 Mile Ranch area and another not far from Spences Bridge.

The burn north of Spences Bridge could begin as soon as tomorrow (Oct. 17), and will consume 186 hectares in the Murray Creek area on the west side of the Thompson River.

The BC Wildfire Service says the burn will be visible for much of the surrounding area, including as far away as Kamloops and Merritt.

Further north, authorities will conduct a series of slash pile burns in Walker Valley near the 108 Mile Ranch.
