Project Connect bringing awareness to homelessness in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — It’s Homelessness Action Week, an awareness campaign dedicated to reducing stigma around homelessness, and on Wednesday the City of Kamloops hosted its fifth annual Project Connect event.

This year’s event was held indoors at the Valley First Lounge at the Sandman Centre with multiple agencies present to help the homeless and others in need. The city says it’s an opportunity for people to be connected with resources.

“It’s mostly just connecting sources in the community for those of us struggling to make ends meet. It’s also about letting people leave with something at the end of the day and just giving them a great day,” said the city’s project manager for housing and homelessness Ty Helgason.
