United Way kicks off #LocalLove campaign in Kamloops
KAMLOOPS — Each year, the United Way Thompson Nicola Cariboo kicks off their annual campaign with a fundraiser breakfast. The event is meant to give United Way supporters with a glimpse of the upcoming campaign’s theme while recognizing the successes of the year that was; this year’s kickoff event was a little different than other years for a couple of reasons.
A few hundred members of the Kamloops community awoke early Friday morning, but did so for a good cause: The United Way Thompson Nicola Cariboo held their annual Campaign Kickoff Breakfast, with a lofty goal set for this year.
“Our goal this year is to put $500,000 more into the community,” United Way Thompson Nicola Cariboo Executive Director Danalee Baker explained. “Last we put $2.2 million into the community. This year we want to do $2.7 million. That is because last year there were $500,000 in requests we couldn’t fill, so we want to try and meet that need and raise those extra dollars.”
