KELOWNA — RCMP in Kelowna are reviving a decades-old missing persons case in hopes someone can help bring a family some closure.

In the spring of 1989, United Kingdom resident Charles Horvath, who had been backpacking across Canada, registered at the Tiny Town Campground in Kelowna.

He was last seen on May 26 of that year, cashing a cheque at a Royal Bank branch at Orchard Park.

His belongings were located at the Tiny Town Campground, leading investigators to believe there were suspicious circumstances surrounding Horvath’s disappearance.

Since his disappearance, Horvath’s mother Denise Allan has been travelling back and forth to Canada, hoping to find any clues about what happened to her son.

In a news release distributed by Kelowna RCMP, Allan says, “I am pleading for any witnesses to find the courage to come forward and help us locate the remains of my beloved son. They can remain anonymous. We just want to find him and bring him home for a proper burial so we can move forward with the mourning process and end our emotional search.”

Anyone who might have information that could help investigators is asked to contact Kelowna RCMP at (250) 762-3300 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
