CASINO ROYALE WRITERS TURNING BOND 25 TREATMENT INTO SCRIPT: It’s getting closer to the big screen! Screenwriters Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, who’ve written for the 007 franchise since 1999’s The World Is Not Enough, is turning their Bond 25 treatment into a script. They got the go-ahead after Danny Boyle left the project as director and writer. They will reportedly take elements from their treatment and Boyle’s script and combine them into a new film. Meanwhile, MGM continues to look for a new director of the Daniel Craig-toplined franchise. The release date thus far has remained unchanged (November 8th, 2019), though many believe it will shift when a new director is found.
PETA PROTESTS AT TIFF: Animal rights activists led by PETA protested the Toronto International Film Festival‘s annual prize giving ceremony. PETA takes issue with TIFF‘s sponsor, the luxury parka maker Canada Goose. (The brand uses goose down and coyote fur in its jackets). “The Toronto International Film Festival accepts sponsorship money from Canada Goose, who profit from inflicting torture on coyotes and birds,” PETA said online.
NBC TO REMAIN HOME FOR GOLDEN GLOBES: NBC, home to the Golden Globes for 23 years, will keep the show for at least the next eight. The network signed a deal with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Friday. This year’s telecast will air on January 6th, 2019, starting at 8 p.m. EST. Nominations will be announced December 6th.
ISLA FISHER SET FOR GREED: Isla Fisher has signed on for Michael Winterbottom‘s Greed. She joins Steve Coogan and David Mitchell. Coogan plays a self-absorbed billionaire, while Fisher plays his wife, the only person who truly understands his strengths and weaknesses.
