KCKC’s Michael Lanyon will be representing Canada in his race tomorrow at the ICF World Canoe and Kayak Marathon Championships in Prado Vila Verde Portugal. Competing in the U23 division, the 19 year old Engineering student will face stiff competition against older athletes from 16 different countries . The 26.2 Km race consists of a series of laps on a course along the Cavado River. Adding to the strain and strategy are 6 portages where the athletes must exit the water and run with their boats to the next entry point.

Lanyon started with the Kamloops Canoe and Kayak Club 8 years ago and steadily has improved his strength and endurance under the training regimen overseen by KCKC Head Coach Stanislav Marek.
