DRAKE SURPRISES YOUNG HEART TRANSPLANT PATIENT IN THE HOSPITAL: Drake gave an 11-year-old girl the surprise of her life when he showed up to visit her at Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago. Sofia Sanchez has been waiting for a new heart for several weeks and her two birthday wishes were to meet Drake and get a new heart. The first wish came true on August 20th when Drake popped into her hospital room while he was in town for his Aubrey & The Three Migos Tour. Sofia’s second wish came true this week when she found out she’s getting the heart she needs. Doctors said Sanchez was recovering nicely from the nine-hour heart transplant surgery she underwent Monday.
BEBE REXHA SCORES TWO CMA NOMINATIONS FOR ‘MEANT TO BE’: Bebe Rexha’s collaboration with Florida Georgia Line, “Meant to Be,” was a huge pop and country hit, and now the country award nominations are starting to roll in. Tuesday morning, “Meant to Be” received three nominations for the 52nd annual Country Music Association Awards, including Single of the Year and Musical Event of the Year. It marks the first-ever CMA nods for Bebe. Additionally, Florida Georgia Line received their sixth nomination for Vocal Duo of the Year. The CMA Awards, hosted by Carrie Underwood and country star Brad Paisley for the 11th year in a row, air November 14th, live on ABC. The nods come days after “Meant to Be” won the MuchMusic Video Award for Best Collaboration during a ceremony in Toronto.
KATHARINE MCPHEE SHADES 2006 ‘IDOL’ WINNER TAYLOR HICKS IN EPIC TWEET: Twelve years after Katharine McPhee lost the American Idol title to Taylor Hicks, she has exacted hilarious revenge – while also encouraging her fans to become involved, conscientious citizens. The 34-year-old actress and singer took to Twitter and posted a photo from her season of American Idol, which aired back in 2006. Katharine came in second place that season and was the runner-up to Taylor Hicks. To remind everyone to register to vote for the upcoming midterm elections, Katharine posted a photo of the results show back in 2006 where Taylor found out he won. Katharine posted, “voting matters ” along with the link to register to vote.
ARIANA GRANDE SCORES 10TH TOP 10 HIT: Not only has Ariana Grande just scored her 10th top 10 hit, but she currently has 10 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart at the same time. Her latest single, “God Is a Woman,” has reached No. 8 on the Hot 100, making it the 10th top 10 hit of her career. “No Tears Left to Cry” is at No. 7 on the tally. In addition to those two singles, Ariana’s got eight more songs in the top 100. They include “Breathin” at No. 22, “Sweetener” at 55, “Everytime” at 62, “R.E.M” at 72, “Goodnight N Go” at No. 87, “The Light Is Coming” at 89, “Bed” with Nicki Minaj at 91 and “Pete Davidson” at No. 99. With the exception of “Bed,” from Nicki Minaj’s album Queen, the rest of the tracks are from Ariana’s album Sweetener, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Ariana becomes only the fourth female artist to chart at least 10 songs simultaneously on the Hot 100. She joins Taylor Swift, Beyonc and Cardi B.
