It’s Over for Ben and Jen

Garner and Affleck share three children together, and after their 2015 split, they worked hard to co-parent and spend quality time together as a family.

SETTLEMENT

Affleck and Garner did not reportedly have a pre-nup, meaning all of their earnings during their 12 year marriage will be divided.

Custody arrangements have not been rigidly decided, TMZ reports, as the pair prefers to continue to shift custody back and forth in a more relaxed way than abiding by a court-mandated formula.

STRUGGLING WITH SOBRIETY

Sobriety is recurring issue for Affleck, according to multiple reports. Insiders tell Page Six that Affleck is fine when he’s working, but less than when he’s not (and he wrapped Triple Frontier in May and then The Last Thing He Wanted in July, and has been at loose ends since).

Affleck’s issues with the bottle were reportedly behind his split from Shookus. “It was very hard for her to break up with Ben, but she knew he wasn’t getting better and that it was time for her to step aside,” a source close to Shookus tells People. “She was trying to stay as close to him as possible so that he would stay on the right path, but ultimately it just wasn’t possible. He has allegedly been struggling for the past 18 months, regaining sobriety and then slipping up again. When he isn’t sober, Garner reportedly is concerned about the safety of the children when they’re with him.

When Affleck leaves rehab, he is reportedly ready to sign off on the split and the divorce will (finally) be final.
