Who’s Worth the Most Money??

Buoyed by the sale of Casamigos Tequila, George Clooney topped Forbes‘ list of highest-paid actors in 2017. Between June 1, 2017 and June 1, 2018, Clooney made $239 million, more money than any other actor has ever, Forbes found.

But don’t cry for everyone else in Hollywood. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson came in at No. 2, with an estimated $124 million pre-taxes. Much of that is thanks to Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.

Robert Downey Jr. rounded out the top 3 with $81 million.

All told, the top 10 made $748.5 million between June 1, 2017, and June 1, 2018, before fees and taxes. The top-earning female stars earned $186 million in the same period, or just one quarter of their male cohorts’ paydays.

FAST FACTS:

In 2013, Clooney, Mike Meldman and Rande Gerber (Cindy Crawford‘s husband) founded Casamigos. Last year, Diageo bought the brand for $700 million.
The Rock credited social media (113 million followers on Insta, 13 mill on Twitter) with his epic success. “Social media has become the most critical element of marketing a movie for me,” he told Forbes. “I have established a social media equity with an audience around the world that there’s a value in what I’m delivering to them.”
The Iron Man earned an estimated $15 million for a limited-screen-time role in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
