Showers, smoke in the forecast for Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — Kamloopsians can expect a bit of a change in the weather starting Thursday and lasting through the weekend.

“The upper ridge that was giving the hot, dry weather and actually resulting in the forest fire smoke spreading into your area is changing a bit,” says Environment Canada Meteorologist Gregg Walters.

“So, for today, we’re looking at about a 60 per cent chance of showers, even the chance of a thunderstorm this afternoon as a band of cloud moves down from the Central Interior.”

He says that means highs of about 24 degrees today and continued smoke.

“The smoke will probably not be washed out, so looking at smoky conditions continuing into Friday and Saturday. On Friday, highs of about 22 and 23 on Saturday.”

Walters says that will be followed up with a chance of showers on Sunday and Monday, though not enough to put a serious dent into the wildfires raging across B.C.

“There is certainly going to be precipitation, more in the Peace country, but scattered showers in the Interior.”
