CFJC announces changes in the newsroom
KAMLOOPS — For 48 years, Doug Collins has been one of the voices who brought news to life in Kamloops; he’s also been the News Director at Broadcast Centre since 1971. While he’ll continue to read news on B100 and CIFM, Collins is preparing to step back from his position as news director here at the station – his replacement was announced today. Dave Barry, who is the current News Director at CKPG News in Prince George will take over the role of News Director for the CFJC Newsroom as of October 15th.
“It’s going to be difficult, filling the shoes of Doug Collins,” Barry said after the news was announced. “Doug’s a legendary newsman in western Canada, if not the nation. I think the biggest challenge I’ll have is filling those shoes.”
As part of Collin’s transition out his management role, Midday’s Susan Edgell will be taking over the other part of his duties as TV Operations manager, meaning she will be stepping back from her hosting position, marking the end of another era for Kamloops television.
