Rihanna’s Doctorate

Rihanna will be receiving an honorary doctorate from The University of the West Indies this fall. According to Rap-Up, Rih will be honored during a ceremony on October 20th at the Cave Hill Campus in Barbados. UWI awards honorary degrees to “leaders in the arts, sciences, and other fields of intellectual endeavor, as well as to those who have made outstanding regional or international contributions.”

Rihanna will be honored alongside the Honorable Justice Adrian Dudley Saunders and Professor Ebenezer Oduru Owusu – who will be receiving an Honorary Doctors of Law and Sciences.

Rih received the Humanitarian of the Year award from Harvard last year for her work through the Clara Lionel Foundation. While accepting the award, she said, “I’m incredibly humbled by this. To be acknowledged at this magnitude, for something that, in truth, I’ve never wanted credit for.”
