KAMLOOP — Kamloops-South Thompson Liberal MLA Todd Stone is taking aim at the NDP.

Stone isn’t happy the provincial government is in the midst of a public consultation into the eligibility requirement of the veterans’ license plate.

Currently, the plates are available for people who were honourably discharged from, or who are currently in, Canada’s military.

The consultations are looking into the idea of extending veteran license plates and recognition for first responders.

“My message to David Eby and the NDP is keep your hands off the veterans license plate. That plate is there for men and women who have served in military service.”

As the son of a firefighter, Stone say he has the utmost respect for first responders but believes the government should create a separate license plate for them.
