BC Wildfire Service cautions against complacency in cooler temperatures

KAMLOOPS — Cooler temperatures may be in the weather forecast this weekend, but the BC Wildfire Service is reminding people that the fire danger rating remains high.

Fire Information Officer Kyla Fraser says a reprieve from the hot and dry conditions is expected to be short-lived.

“Coming into this weekend, some cooler and rainy conditions are expected for the northern half of the province, including north of Kamloops. That being said though, that’s just for the next couple days. It’s not a significant enough pattern to really change the situation too much. Coming into next week we’re expecting to see hot and dry weather conditions again.”

Fraser says people should remain vigilant, and report any new wildfires using *5555 on a cellphone or by calling 1-800-663-5555
