Janet Jackson Takes You Behind the Scenes

Janet Jackson kicked off her State of the World Tour last night at the Essence Festival in New Orleans, and Friday, she gave fans a behind-the-scenes sneak peek at her rehearsals.

“One of my favorite things about being on tour is connecting with the fans, performing for the fans, for you, meeting you,” Jackson says in the video. “That’s why I do what I do,” Jackson adds. “I love being onstage and I love performing for you, and hopefully making you happy. As happy as I am performing for you.”

Janet’s next show will be July 11th in Austin, Texas. Tour stops also include Cincinnati, Miami, New York City and San Francisco.

Meanwhile, before the Essence Fest last night, a group of single moms from New Orleans got the VIP treatment.

Janet’s make-up artist for the last 12 years, Preston Meneses did the make-up for four lucky women who were selected by Essence on Mother’s Day. Cassidy, who is part of Janet’s make-up team also helped.
