KAMLOOPS —UPDATE: The Kamloops RCMP say it will be a while before traffic gets back to normal on the westbound Trans Canada Highway at the Peterson Creek Bridge.

“We anticipate it will be a lengthy closure and all traffic should avoid that area at this time,” says Staff Sgt. Vic Steinhammer. “We’re still waiting for traffic people to come to start their investigation so I suspect we’re hours away.”

Steinhammer did not confirm the fatality, but did confirm the crash involved a pedestrian.

Despite the westbound closure, he says one eastbound lane remains open.
