KAMLOOPS — Good news for those needing dental work in Kamloops who have trouble making ends meet.

The New Life Community Kamloops Dental Clinic is expanding its service over the summer months.

“We have a couple extra hands on deck this summer,” says Dental Clinic Office Administrator Kat McKinley. “We have a third year dental student from UBC coming in to help us out for the month of July and then we have a resident dentist from UBC coming in to do her general residency program.”

She says that means the normal four-month wait for service will be cut to about a month instead.

As for rates, McKinley says her office will walk people through the process.

“For someone on social assistance, they will automatically qualify to access services. If they are not on social assistance and can prove a personal income of $22,000 or less per year or a household family income of $44,000 or less, we offer reduced rates.”

She says the service will include exams, fillings and extractions.

The dental clinic is located inside the New Life Community Outreach Centre at 181 West Victoria Street.
