Missing man presumed drowned in Fraser River near Lytton
LYTTON, B.C. — A man is missing and presumed drowned following a recent fishing trip in the Fraser Canyon.
North District RCMP Cpl. Madonna Saunderson says Duane Aleck had gone fishing June 18 near Lytton and failed to return home.
“It was not unusual for Aleck to spend one night away on a fishing trip,” she says. “It wasn’t until Aleck failed to return after the second night that this friend reported him missing.”
A police investigation revealed one witness seeing Aleck intentionally go into the river with an orange life preserver and it wasn’t long after that police received a report in Boston Bar and in Lytton of a body, in an orange life preserver, floating down the Fraser River.
